Q: Where can I purchase Instek Locally?
A: Instek and other select lines of instrumentation are available through select distributors nation wide. Please refer to the distributor section of this site to find a local distributor in your area.
Q: Is there a difference between the US version of Instek and the Canadian?
A: Yes, the Canadian version of Instek is modified to comply with Canadian Electrical Standards and is CSA approved here in Canada before being sent out to the distributors. In addition to CSA, we offer a local warranty with an extended 3 year warranty and 5 years (select models) upon the complete range of Instek and Kenwood TMI products.
Q: Is grey market products purchased in the USA or via a US Internet distributor warrantied in Canada?
A: No. We will not warranty any product purchased from the USA. Apart from the fact that it's illegal to operate equipment that does not bear the CSA, CUL, or the local hydro authority sticker means that the unit has not been tested for safety in Canada. Many consumer products in the USA have one of these labels so buying from the states isn't an issue where electrical safety is concerned but Instrumentation OEMS generally do not. This matter can materialize into a number of issues including Loss of Liability insurance and other insurance due to the fact that you are using untested, uncertified equipment of Hydro lines. Warranty is another matter. The defective unit will have to be shipped back to your distributor or Instek USA (California) which incurs a great deal of expense in both shipping and brokerage fees both ways.
Q: Can the product be calibrated with before and after readings, calibration certificate and sticker before being shipped to the local distributor or from Tradeport (depending on the product)?
A: Yes, Please contact your local distributor to arrange for this when placing your order. Calibration via your distributor is no more expensive than having it done directly in your labs after the sale.
